This market will resolve to "Up" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 is higher than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 is lower than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If DAX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by DAX Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they aggregate real-money bets rather than opinions. While equity analysts publish price targets and technical outlooks for the DAX, this market distills those views—plus proprietary trader insights—into a single probability. Analysts may focus on longer-term fundamentals, whereas traders here are pricing a single day's directional move. The odds reflect what informed participants are willing to stake, offering a dynamic alternative to consensus estimates.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling shares that represent each outcome: DAX up or DAX down on June 16. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share fluctuates between 0 and 1 based on supply and demand, with the sum of both outcomes always equaling 1. As new information emerges—economic data, earnings, geopolitical events—traders adjust their positions, moving the odds in real time. This continuous price discovery mechanism ensures the market reflects the latest available signals about the DAX's likely direction.
This market resolves around Jun 16, 2026, once the trading day concludes and the DAX's final closing level is verified. The outcome is determined by comparing the closing price to the previous session's close: a higher close triggers the up outcome, while a lower close triggers the down outcome. Resolution occurs after credible public sources confirm the official index level, ensuring all traders have access to the same verified data. Payouts are distributed immediately upon confirmation.
Economic releases—inflation data, employment figures, central bank commentary—often drive DAX volatility and shift trader positioning in this market. Corporate earnings announcements from major index constituents, geopolitical developments, and shifts in broader European sentiment can all influence the odds. Technical levels and overnight moves in US or Asian markets may also prompt repricing. Intraday momentum and order flow closer to the close can create sharp moves, especially if the index approaches key support or resistance levels, making late-session trading particularly active.
