This market will resolve to "Up" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Monday, July 20, 2026 is higher than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Monday, July 20, 2026 is lower than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If DAX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by DAX Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they aggregate real-money bets from thousands of traders rather than relying on a handful of expert opinions. While equity analysts publish target prices and ratings based on fundamental research, this market prices in live market sentiment, geopolitical events, and intraday momentum. Comparing the two can reveal whether the crowd is more or less bullish than the consensus—a useful signal for identifying potential surprises or consensus crowding.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader positions into real-time odds for each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares representing an up or down close, and the price of each share reflects the crowd's estimated probability. As volume increases or sentiment shifts, prices adjust dynamically, allowing participants to enter or exit positions at any time before the market closes.
This market resolves around Jul 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the DAX's closing level for that day is verifiable from credible public sources. The winning outcome is determined by whether the index finished higher or lower relative to the previous close. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout once the result is finalized and the market settles.
Major catalysts for DAX movement include European Central Bank policy announcements, German economic data releases, corporate earnings surprises, and broader geopolitical developments affecting European equities. Intraday volatility can spike on U.S. market opens, Fed communications, or sector-specific news affecting DAX-listed companies. Technical levels and options expiry dynamics may also influence trading patterns. Traders monitoring this market should watch for scheduled economic calendars and breaking news that could shift risk sentiment in the final hours before close.
