Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the CL/USDT price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than the price at the beginning of that range. It will resolve to "Down" if the CL/USDT price at the end of the time range is lower than the price at the beginning of that range. If the two prices are exactly equal, the market will resolve 50-50. The primary resolution source for this market is Chainlink, specifically the CL/USDT data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/cl-usdt-markpriceindex-datalink?timeframe=1d&chart=candlestick To verify the final price, use the close price of the 5m candlestick just before the market's end time. For example, for a market running from 1:00 to 1:15 PM ET, use the close price of the 1:10 PM candlestick as the final price. The resolution source uses the index price (field i) from Binance's USDS-Margined Futures Mark Price Stream for All Markets (!markPrice@arr), denominated in the quote currency. This market is based solely on the price reported by the Chainlink CL/USDT data stream, not on other sources or futures markets. If Chainlink data is unavailable or otherwise unusable for resolution, the market will resolve based on a consensus of reliable sources. 2026-10-29T13:45:00Z

Frequently asked questions

On Predict, the dashboard for the crude oil price movement tracks the current odds of the price going up or down between 9:45 AM and 10:00 AM ET on October 29th. You'll find a price history chart showing how probabilities have shifted over time, as well as the total volume traded in this market, currently at $1,661, and the 24-hour volume, which is $1,646. This allows you to see how traders are positioning themselves and gauge the overall sentiment surrounding the short-term direction of crude oil prices.

Currently, the odds on Predict reflect a different perspective than many traditional analyst forecasts. While some analysts predict a stable or slightly increasing price, this market shows a more nuanced view, incorporating the collective wisdom of traders. It's important to remember that analyst forecasts are often based on models and assumptions, whereas this market represents real-money bets, potentially offering a more accurate signal of what traders believe will happen with the crude oil price movement. This comparison highlights the value of considering diverse sources of information when evaluating potential outcomes.

On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether the crude oil price will be higher or lower during the specified timeframe. The price of these contracts fluctuates based on supply and demand, creating a real-time probability assessment. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The platform uses a logarithmic scaling system, meaning that small changes in probability near 50% have a larger impact on the price than changes at the extremes. This ensures that the market remains sensitive to new information and reflects the evolving expectations of traders.

This market resolves around Oct 29, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will be based on the change in the crude oil price between 9:45 AM and 10:00 AM ET on October 29th. If the price is higher at 10:00 AM ET than it was at 9:45 AM ET, the 'Up' outcome will be considered correct. Conversely, if the price is lower, the 'Down' outcome will prevail. The final price will be sourced from a publicly available, reputable financial data provider.

Several signals or events could significantly move this market before it resolves. Unexpected news regarding oil supply, such as announcements from OPEC+ regarding production cuts or increases, would likely have a substantial impact. Geopolitical events, particularly those affecting major oil-producing regions, could also cause volatility. Additionally, macroeconomic data releases, like inflation figures or economic growth reports, can influence investor sentiment and affect the crude oil price movement. Finally, any significant shifts in the US dollar's strength could also play a role, as oil is typically priced in dollars.
