Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the CL/USDT price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than the price at the beginning of that range. It will resolve to "Down" if the CL/USDT price at the end of the time range is lower than the price at the beginning of that range. If the two prices are exactly equal, the market will resolve 50-50. The primary resolution source for this market is Chainlink, specifically the CL/USDT data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/cl-usdt-markpriceindex-datalink?timeframe=1d&chart=candlestick To verify the final price, use the close price of the 5m candlestick just before the market's end time. For example, for a market running from 1:00 to 1:15 PM ET, use the close price of the 1:10 PM candlestick as the final price. The resolution source uses the index price (field i) from Binance's USDS-Margined Futures Mark Price Stream for All Markets (!markPrice@arr), denominated in the quote currency. This market is based solely on the price reported by the Chainlink CL/USDT data stream, not on other sources or futures markets. If Chainlink data is unavailable or otherwise unusable for resolution, the market will resolve based on a consensus of reliable sources. 2026-10-29T08:45:00Z

You’ll find a price history chart showing how these probabilities have shifted over time, along with the total volume traded in this market, currently at $898, and the 24-hour volume, which is $872. The dashboard provides a real-time view of market sentiment, reflecting predictions about future price movements.

Currently, the collective wisdom of traders in this market offers a unique perspective compared to traditional analyst forecasts. While many analysts provide price targets and directional predictions, this market aggregates the views of a diverse group of individuals, creating a dynamic forecast that evolves with new information. It’s common to see discrepancies between prediction market probabilities and those offered by individual analysts or firms, as this market represents a broader, more fluid assessment of potential outcomes. This difference can be particularly notable when considering unforeseen geopolitical events or shifts in global demand.

On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether the crude oil price will be up or down. The price of these contracts fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective probability assigned to each outcome. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe the price will rise, the higher the price of the 'up' contract, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures that the market odds continuously adapt to new information and changing sentiment, offering a real-time assessment of expectations.

This market resolves around Oct 29, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will be based on the change in the price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil between 4:45 AM and 5:00 AM Eastern Time on October 29th. If the price is higher at 5:00 AM than at 4:45 AM, the 'up' outcome will be considered correct; otherwise, the 'down' outcome will prevail. The final price will be sourced from a widely recognized financial data provider.

Several factors could significantly impact this market before it resolves. Unexpected announcements from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) regarding production levels, geopolitical instability in major oil-producing regions, or surprising economic data releases from key consumer nations like the United States and China could all trigger substantial price swings. Furthermore, major weather events, such as hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico, can disrupt oil production and transportation, influencing market sentiment. Any news that alters the perceived supply or demand balance for crude oil has the potential to move this market.
