Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the CL/USDT price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than the price at the beginning of that range. It will resolve to "Down" if the CL/USDT price at the end of the time range is lower than the price at the beginning of that range. If the two prices are exactly equal, the market will resolve 50-50. The primary resolution source for this market is Chainlink, specifically the CL/USDT data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/cl-usdt-markpriceindex-datalink?timeframe=1d&chart=candlestick To verify the final price, use the close price of the 5m candlestick just before the market's end time. For example, for a market running from 1:00 to 1:15 PM ET, use the close price of the 1:10 PM candlestick as the final price. The resolution source uses the index price (field i) from Binance's USDS-Margined Futures Mark Price Stream for All Markets (!markPrice@arr), denominated in the quote currency. This market is based solely on the price reported by the Chainlink CL/USDT data stream, not on other sources or futures markets. If Chainlink data is unavailable or otherwise unusable for resolution, the market will resolve based on a consensus of reliable sources. 2026-11-04T18:45:00Z

Frequently asked questions

On Predict, the dashboard for the crude oil price market displays the current implied probabilities of the price of crude oil going up or down. You’ll find a price history chart showing how these probabilities have shifted over time, along with the total volume traded in this market, currently at $0, and the 24-hour volume, which is $0. This allows you to see how traders are reacting to news and events influencing the oil market, and gauge the overall sentiment regarding its future direction. The dashboard provides a real-time view of market participants' expectations.

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a more nuanced and up-to-date view than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts may have pre-existing biases or slower update cycles, this market aggregates the wisdom of many traders reacting to information as it emerges. If a consensus among analysts predicts a specific direction for crude oil, we might see similar probabilities reflected here, but this market can quickly adjust to new data or unforeseen circumstances that analysts haven’t yet fully incorporated into their models. It’s a dynamic comparison, and this market often provides a different perspective.

On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether the crude oil price will be higher or lower by the specified resolution time. The price of these contracts fluctuates based on supply and demand, directly translating into implied probabilities. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This means that the odds you see reflect the collective judgment of traders on Predict and are constantly updated as new information becomes available. The more traders believe the price will go up, the higher the price of the 'up' contract, and vice versa.

This market resolves around Nov 4, 2026, with the outcome determined by comparing the crude oil price at 1:45 PM - 2:00 PM ET on November 4th to its price at the market’s launch. The resolution will be verified against credible public reporting of the official crude oil price at that time. Traders who correctly predicted the direction of the price change will receive a payout based on the odds at the time of their trade. The final price will be sourced from a widely recognized and publicly available index for crude oil.

Several factors could significantly influence this market before Nov 4, 2026. Major geopolitical events, such as conflicts in oil-producing regions or changes in OPEC+ production policies, are key catalysts. Unexpected economic data releases, particularly those related to global demand (like manufacturing indices or Chinese economic growth), could also shift sentiment. Furthermore, inventory reports from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) and any significant disruptions to oil supply (e.g., hurricanes impacting Gulf Coast production) will likely cause volatility in this market. Keep an eye on these signals to understand potential price movements.
