Description

Parliamentary elections to elect the Parliament of the Cook Islands are scheduled to take place on August 12, 2026. This market will resolve to the political party that wins the greatest number of seats in the Parliament of the Cook Islands as a result of this election. If the results of the specified election are not definitively known by July 31, 2027, this market will resolve to "Other". In the event of a tie between multiple parties for the most seats won, this market will resolve in favor of the party whose candidates received the greater combined number of valid votes across all constituencies. If multiple tied parties also received the same combined number of valid votes, this market will resolve in favor of the party whose name as listed in this market appears first in alphabetical order. A member will count towards the party they registered to contest the election with. This market's resolution will be based solely on the number of seats won by the named party. Independents will not count towards any party. This market will resolve based on the results of the elections, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. In the case of ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on the results as reported by the Cook Islands government.

Frequently asked questions

The Cook Islands parliamentary election market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for which party will win the most seats in the upcoming parliamentary election. The interface displays current implied probabilities for each major contender, along with 24-hour volume and cumulative trading activity. Traders use this data to monitor shifting sentiment as campaign developments, polling releases, and political announcements unfold. The dashboard provides a transparent window into how prediction market participants are pricing the race relative to public expectations.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional polling because they incorporate real-money incentives and forward-looking trader expectations. While polls capture voter sentiment at a single moment, this market reflects participants' assessments of campaign momentum, turnout dynamics, and late-breaking developments. Traders betting on outcomes they believe are underpriced by polls can move odds significantly. Comparing the implied probability of the frontrunner in this market to published polling averages reveals whether the prediction market is pricing in a tighter race, a clearer winner, or factors polls may not yet reflect.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time probabilities for each party outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each contract represents a claim on a specific party winning, and the price of that contract reflects the collective belief of all traders. As new information emerges—campaign announcements, polling data, or political shifts—traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down. The continuous pricing mechanism ensures the odds stay current throughout the trading window.

This market resolves around Aug 12, 2026, after the Cook Islands parliamentary election has taken place and results are verified. The outcome is determined by which party secures the most seats in parliament, confirmed once the election is verifiable from credible public reporting. Traders holding positions on the winning party receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless. The resolution process is straightforward: the party with the plurality of seats is declared the winner, and payouts are distributed accordingly.

Major catalysts include published opinion polls showing shifts in voter preference, campaign events or gaffes affecting party momentum, leadership changes or candidate announcements, and international or domestic political developments influencing the electorate. Economic data, policy announcements, and media coverage can also sway trader sentiment. As election day approaches, final polls and early voting indicators typically generate significant trading volume. Any unexpected political realignment or coalition signals could trigger sharp repricing. Traders monitor these signals continuously to adjust their positions ahead of the final outcome.
