This set of markets focuses on predicting the exact closing price of Brent crude oil at a specific future moment. Each market has a different threshold, allowing participants to speculate on how high or low the price might be at that exact time.
All markets resolve based on the closing price of the 1-minute candlestick for Brent crude oil on October 30, 2026, at 5:00 PM EDT. The market resolves to 'Yes' if the closing price exceeds the specified threshold for that individual market. The settlement value is rounded to the nearest two decimal places. The closing price for the 1-minute candlestick at 5:00 PM EDT is defined as the price at the end of the immediately preceding one-minute interval, meaning the candlestick timestamped 4:59 PM reflects trading from 4:59:00 PM to 4:59:59 PM and closes at 5:00:00 PM. If the specified source agency does not publish data for the exact time, the most recently available published data will be used to determine the settlement price.
Currently, prediction market odds reflect the collective wisdom of traders on Kalshi. These odds often differ from traditional analyst forecasts, as they represent a real-money assessment of potential outcomes. While analysts may provide price targets based on economic models and geopolitical factors, this market incorporates a broader range of information and incentives, including unexpected events and shifts in market sentiment. It’s common to see discrepancies, as prediction markets can react more quickly to new information than consensus analyst estimates.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, where traders submit buy and sell orders for contracts representing different price outcomes. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders can take either the 'buy' side, predicting a higher price, or the 'sell' side, predicting a lower price. The market dynamically adjusts as new information becomes available and traders update their beliefs about the future price of Brent crude oil.
This market resolves around Oct 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the settlement price will be based on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) Brent Crude Futures contract for November 2026, as reported at 5:00 PM EDT on October 30, 2026. The market will then pay out to traders based on whether the actual price falls above or below the contract price they traded.
Several factors could significantly move this market before Oct 30, 2026. Geopolitical events, such as conflicts in major oil-producing regions or changes in OPEC+ production policies, are key drivers. Economic data releases, including global GDP growth figures and inflation rates, will also influence price expectations. Unexpected disruptions to oil supply, like natural disasters impacting production facilities, could cause sharp price swings. Finally, shifts in global demand, driven by changes in economic activity or energy policies, will play a crucial role in shaping the market’s trajectory.
