This market will resolve to "Up" if the Bitcoin price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than or equal to the price at the beginning of that range. Otherwise, it will resolve to "Down". The resolution source for this market is information from Chainlink, specifically the BTC/USD data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/btc-usd. Please note that this market is about the price according to Chainlink data stream BTC/USD, not according to other sources or spot markets.
On Polymarket, this event is priced as a binary outcome contract where traders buy and sell shares representing either an up or down move. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price of each outcome reflects the probability traders assign to that result, with the two sides summing to 100 percent. As new information surfaces—such as macroeconomic developments, Bitcoin network events, or shifts in institutional positioning—traders adjust their positions, moving the price and revealing updated consensus. The continuous order book allows real-time entry and exit, letting participants trade their conviction at any point before the resolution window closes.
The market resolves at May 31, 2026, marking the end of the four-hour observation window. The outcome is determined by Bitcoin's price movement during that specific May 31st interval from 8:00AM to 12:00PM ET. Traders who correctly predicted the direction of that move receive their payout, while those on the losing side forfeit their stake. The resolution is based on objective price data captured at the market's close, ensuring a clear and verifiable result tied directly to Bitcoin's actual intraday performance during the specified timeframe.
Several catalysts could shift market odds before May 31st. U.S. economic data releases—such as employment reports, inflation figures, or Federal Reserve communications—often trigger Bitcoin volatility. Regulatory announcements from the SEC, CFTC, or international authorities can swing sentiment sharply. Major corporate or institutional Bitcoin purchases or sales, mining difficulty adjustments, and geopolitical developments also influence short-term direction. Additionally, technical levels, options expiry dates, and liquidation cascades on leveraged exchanges can amplify intraday moves. Traders monitor these signals closely to adjust positions and refine their directional bets as the event date approaches.
