This market will resolve to "Up" if the Bitcoin price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than or equal to the price at the beginning of that range. Otherwise, it will resolve to "Down". The resolution source for this market is information from Chainlink, specifically the BTC/USD data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/btc-usd. Please note that this market is about the price according to Chainlink data stream BTC/USD, not according to other sources or spot markets.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect traders' collective belief about Bitcoin's directional movement during the specified four-hour window, which may differ from broader spot price forecasts or analyst sentiment. While spot price expectations focus on longer-term or open-ended price trajectories, this market isolates a precise time window, creating a more concentrated signal. Traders pricing this contract factor in volatility, news flow, and technical levels specific to May 31. Comparing Polymarket odds to consensus analyst calls or social media sentiment can reveal whether the prediction market is pricing in more or less optimism than traditional forecasters, highlighting unique market-driven insights.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this event is priced as a binary contract where traders buy and sell shares representing either an up or down outcome for Bitcoin during the May 31, 12:00PM–4:00PM ET window. The price of each share reflects the market's implied probability, ranging from near zero to near one dollar. Traders profit by buying low and selling high, or by correctly predicting the outcome at resolution. Liquidity and order book depth on Polymarket determine how easily you can enter or exit positions. Real-time price discovery happens through continuous trading, with the final settlement price determined at the exact resolution moment.
The market resolves on May 31, 2026, marking the end of the specified trading window. Resolution occurs after the 4:00PM ET close on May 31, when the outcome is determined by Bitcoin's price movement during the exact 12:00PM–4:00PM ET period. The market will settle to either up or down based on whether Bitcoin's price at 4:00PM ET is higher or lower than its price at 12:00PM ET on that date. Traders holding winning shares receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless. The precise price source and settlement methodology are defined by Polymarket's contract specifications.
Bitcoin's price action during the May 31 window could be influenced by macroeconomic announcements, Federal Reserve communications, or major regulatory news released that morning or during market hours. Geopolitical developments, corporate adoption news, or significant exchange inflows or outflows can trigger sharp moves. Technical levels and support or resistance zones established in prior trading may guide price direction. Broader equity market sentiment and traditional asset performance often correlate with crypto volatility. On-chain metrics, whale transactions, or futures market positioning could signal institutional positioning. Any unexpected security incidents, protocol upgrades, or major exchange announcements timed near the window could also shift Bitcoin's trajectory during those critical four hours.
