This market will resolve to "Up" if the close price is greater than or equal to the open price for the BTC/USDT 1 hour candle that begins on the time and date specified in the title. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "Down". The resolution source for this market is information from Binance, specifically the BTC/USDT pair (https://www.binance.com/en/trade/BTC_USDT). The close « C » and open « O » displayed at the top of the graph for the relevant "1H" candle will be used once the data for that candle is finalized. Please note that this market is about the price according to Binance BTC/USDT, not according to other exchanges or trading pairs.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect what traders believe will happen by May 31, 10AM ET, and often diverge from current spot price momentum or technical analysis. While spot price shows Bitcoin's immediate market value, prediction odds incorporate forward-looking sentiment about directional moves over the next several months. Comparing Polymarket odds to analyst price targets or on-chain signals can reveal whether the market is pricing in bullish or bearish catalysts. Prediction markets tend to aggregate dispersed information more efficiently than single-point spot prices, making them useful for gauging genuine conviction about Bitcoin's trajectory.
On Polymarket, this event is priced as a binary contract where traders buy and sell shares representing either the up or down outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the collective probability assigned by all traders; higher prices indicate stronger conviction that outcome will occur. Polymarket uses an automated market maker model, so prices adjust continuously as new trades flow in. The spread between up and down prices tightens as the May 31 resolution date approaches and more information becomes available, allowing you to track real-time shifts in trader expectations about Bitcoin's directional move.
The market resolves on May 31, 2026, at which point the outcome is determined based on Bitcoin's price movement relative to the specified threshold at 10AM ET. The resolution snapshot captures Bitcoin's value at that exact moment, and the contract settles according to whether the directional condition has been met. Until resolution, traders can continue buying and selling shares, with prices reflecting updated expectations as new information emerges. The final determination is made once the reference time passes and the outcome becomes objectively verifiable.
Major catalysts include Federal Reserve policy announcements, inflation data, and macroeconomic sentiment shifts that typically drive Bitcoin volatility. Regulatory developments—such as SEC decisions on spot Bitcoin ETFs or government crypto frameworks—can trigger sharp directional moves. On-chain metrics like exchange inflows, whale wallet activity, and network adoption trends also influence trader positioning. Geopolitical events, traditional market stress, and corporate or institutional Bitcoin adoption news frequently reshape near-term directional expectations. Technical levels and options expiry dates can create momentum shifts, while sentiment swings on social media and news cycles often accelerate price moves in either direction leading up to the May 31 resolution.
