On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling shares of the two outcomes—Bitcoin Up or Bitcoin Down. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on one outcome, and the price of each reflects the collective belief of the market. As more traders buy the Up outcome, its price rises and the Down price falls, automatically adjusting the implied probability. The market uses an automated market maker (AMM) mechanism to ensure continuous liquidity, so you can trade in or out at any time before resolution without waiting for a counterparty.
This market resolves around Jul 4, 2026, at which point the outcome will be determined by verifying Bitcoin's price direction against credible public sources. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing shares expire worthless. The resolution is binary—either Bitcoin closed higher than its opening price at the specified time, or it did not. Once the event is confirmed through established financial data providers, the market settles automatically and funds are distributed to winners.
Major catalysts include Federal Reserve policy announcements, macroeconomic data releases, and regulatory news affecting cryptocurrency markets. Bitcoin's correlation with traditional equities means stock market volatility, inflation reports, and geopolitical events can shift trader positioning significantly. On-chain metrics such as large whale transactions, exchange inflows, or mining difficulty changes also influence short-term directional bets. Technical levels and support/resistance zones matter too—a break above or below key price points often triggers momentum trades that move this market sharply in either direction.
