On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker (AMM) mechanism, where each outcome token trades against a liquidity pool. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Your buy or sell order moves the odds in real time, and the cost to acquire shares reflects the current implied probability. As more capital flows into one side, the price adjusts upward; withdrawals push it down. This continuous repricing ensures the market stays responsive to new information and trader conviction, with no central authority setting the odds—only supply and demand.
This market resolves around Jul 1, 2026, at which point the outcome is determined by verifying Bitcoin's price against credible public sources. Once the event time passes and data is confirmed, the market settles to reflect whether the price moved in the predicted direction. Traders who backed the correct outcome receive their winnings proportional to their stake, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution is typically swift once the necessary price data is publicly available and verified.
Major catalysts include Federal Reserve policy announcements, inflation data releases, and geopolitical developments that affect risk appetite. Regulatory news—such as SEC guidance on crypto assets or banking sector stress—can trigger sharp repricing. Bitcoin-specific events like network upgrades, large exchange flows, or whale transactions also influence trader positioning. Macroeconomic shocks, equity market volatility, and shifts in traditional finance sentiment ripple into this market quickly. Even technical chart breaks or options expiry flows can accelerate momentum, so monitoring both on-chain metrics and broader financial headlines is key to anticipating moves.
