This market tracks whether the price of Bitcoin will be above $72,000 on October 15, 2024. Currently, Polymarket gives a 100.0% probability to this outcome. Resolution will be based on the 12:00 PM ET closing price of the BTC/USDT trading pair on Binance (https://www.binance.com/en/trade/BTC_USDT). Traders should closely watch the price action leading up to October 15, 2026, as this date represents the end of the betting period and the point at which the market will resolve based on the Binance price feed.
This market will resolve to "Yes" if the Binance 1 minute candle for BTC/USDT closing at 12:00 in the ET timezone (noon) on the date specified in the title has a final "Close" price higher than the price specified in the title. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market is Binance, specifically the BTC/USDT "Close" prices currently available at https://www.binance.com/en/trade/BTC_USDT with "1m" and "Candles" selected on the top bar. Please note that this market is about the price according to Binance BTC/USDT, not according to other exchanges or trading pairs. Price precision is determined by the number of decimal places in the source.
Currently, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than typical spot price expectations. While spot prices reflect immediate supply and demand, this market aggregates the beliefs of many traders about the likelihood of a specific future event – in this case, the Bitcoin price on October 15. Discrepancies between the two can arise from factors like risk aversion, information asymmetry, or differing interpretations of future events. Analyzing these differences can provide valuable insights into market sentiment and potential future price movements.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of the Bitcoin price being above the target level on October 15. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares bought, the higher the price, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd, adjusting in real-time to new information and changing sentiment.
This market resolves around Oct 15, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the Bitcoin price at a specific time on October 15, as determined by a widely recognized and reliable source for cryptocurrency pricing data. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or adjust their strategies based on the final result. The market will close prior to this date to prevent manipulation.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before Oct 15, 2026. Major news regarding Bitcoin adoption by institutions, regulatory changes impacting cryptocurrency, or significant macroeconomic events could all influence trader sentiment. Unexpected developments in the broader financial markets, such as shifts in interest rates or inflation data, could also play a role. Furthermore, any substantial technical breakthroughs or security breaches related to the Bitcoin network could impact the price and, consequently, the odds in this market.
