Kalshi
This market tracks whether the Bank of Korea will hike rates by 1–25 basis points at its July monetary policy meeting. On Kalshi, the leading outcome—a hike of 1–25bps—stands at 60.0%, while maintaining the current rate is at 33.0%. Resolution will be determined by the official Bank of Korea announcement. Watch the July 16, 2026 Bank of Korea Monetary Policy Board meeting for the rate decision that will settle this contract.
Each outcome resolves to Yes based on the official policy rate decision announced by the Bank of Korea at its July 2026 Monetary Policy Board meeting. Resolution depends on the primary policy rate change: cuts exceeding 25 basis points, cuts of 1–25 basis points, maintaining the current rate, hikes of 1–25 basis points, or hikes exceeding 25 basis points. If the meeting is cancelled or delayed past expiration, the "maintain current rate" outcome resolves to Yes and all others resolve to No. Emergency rate changes between scheduled meetings do not affect resolution. Basis point ranges are inclusive.
Prediction market odds on Kalshi reflect aggregated trader expectations and often diverge from consensus analyst forecasts. While traditional economists and financial institutions publish rate-cut probability estimates based on economic models and forward guidance, prediction markets price in real-time sentiment and incorporate a broader range of information. Analysts typically issue formal forecasts weeks in advance, whereas market odds adjust continuously. Comparing the two reveals whether professional consensus is more or less hawkish than the crowd of traders betting on the outcome.
The Bank of Korea rate decision in July market resolves on Jul 16, 2026, following the official announcement from the Bank of Korea's Monetary Policy Board. Resolution hinges on the actual rate decision communicated by the central bank during its July meeting. Traders holding positions through resolution will see their contracts settle based on whether the announced action matches the market's binary outcome criteria. Early exit is possible by selling positions before the announcement date.
Key catalysts for the Bank of Korea rate decision include inflation data, employment reports, GDP growth figures, and forward guidance from Bank of Korea officials. Domestic economic weakness or deflationary pressures typically increase odds of a rate cut, while inflation surprises or geopolitical tensions may reduce cut expectations. Global monetary policy shifts, particularly moves by the Federal Reserve or other major central banks, also influence Korean rate expectations. Market commentary and speeches by Bank of Korea leadership in the weeks leading up to July can shift trader positioning significantly.
