Prediction market odds and traditional polling often diverge because they measure different things. Polls capture voter preference at a single moment, while this market reflects traders' forward-looking bets on the actual primary outcome, incorporating campaign momentum, fundraising, and ground organization. Markets typically adjust faster than polls to breaking news and can embed information that surveys miss. However, both tools are imperfect; markets can be swayed by large trades or low liquidity, while polls may suffer from sampling bias. Comparing the two provides a fuller picture than either alone.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on buy and sell pressure for each candidate outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Shares trading near 100 cents reflect high confidence in that candidate's nomination, while lower prices indicate longer odds. The platform uses a continuous pricing model, so odds update in real time as new trades execute. Liquidity depth affects how much a single large trade moves the price, and wider spreads between bid and ask prices typically appear in less-traded outcomes.
This market resolves around Jul 21, 2026, once the Republican primary election concludes and the winner is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the official primary results, with the candidate receiving the most votes in the Republican primary for Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction declared the winner. Polymarket will confirm the result and settle all winning shares at full value once the election authority certifies the outcome.
Key catalysts include candidate endorsements from prominent Arizona Republicans, campaign funding announcements, and debate performances that shift voter perception. Polling releases—whether showing momentum for a frontrunner or a surprise surge—typically trigger sharp price moves. Candidate withdrawals or scandals can rapidly reshape odds for remaining contenders. Media coverage of education policy positions, particularly on school choice and curriculum issues, may influence trader sentiment. As the primary date approaches, early voting data and get-out-the-vote efforts become increasingly important signals that traders monitor to adjust positions.
