Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional polling because they incorporate real-money incentives and continuous price discovery. While polls capture voter sentiment at a single moment, this market aggregates ongoing trader expectations, including private information, campaign momentum, and emerging developments. Prediction markets have historically outperformed polls in close races by reflecting late-breaking dynamics. However, both tools serve different purposes: polls measure current voter preference, while market odds estimate the probability of a specific outcome occurring at resolution.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker (AMM) system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each candidate's contract trades independently, with the price of a winning outcome share ranging from $0 to $1, reflecting the implied probability of that candidate winning the primary. Higher prices indicate stronger market confidence. Liquidity and trading volume influence how quickly prices adjust to new information, and wider spreads between bid and ask prices may appear during low-volume periods.
This market resolves around Jul 21, 2026, once the Arizona Republican primary election concludes and results are verified. The outcome is determined by which candidate receives the most votes in the Republican primary for Arizona Attorney General. Resolution occurs after official results are confirmed through credible public reporting and election authorities, ensuring accuracy before payouts are distributed to holders of the winning candidate's shares.
Market prices will likely shift in response to campaign announcements, endorsements from prominent Arizona Republicans, debate performances, and changes in candidate funding or organization. Polling releases, media coverage of candidate records, and primary turnout indicators can trigger significant moves. Late-breaking scandals, candidate withdrawals, or shifts in voter priorities also influence trader positioning. Additionally, broader political developments affecting the Republican Party nationally may impact perceptions of individual candidates' viability in this specific race.
