These markets track Dan J. Sullivan's performance in the first round of the 2026 Alaska Senate primary election. Each market resolves based on whether his certified vote share meets or exceeds a specific threshold (0.1%, 1%, 3%, or 5%).
Resolution is based on Dan J. Sullivan's certified percentage of the popular vote in the first round of the 2026 Alaska Senate primary, calculated as total votes received divided by total valid votes cast, multiplied by 100. The percentage is determined from official certified results only, excluding preliminary counts. Write-in votes are included if they appear in certified results; invalid, spoiled, or rejected ballots are excluded from both the numerator and denominator. If the election involves multiple voting rounds (such as ranked choice voting), the first round percentage applies. Each market resolves to Yes if Sullivan's certified percentage meets or exceeds its specified threshold (0.1%, 1%, 3%, or 5%, respectively). If the election is cancelled, postponed beyond the market expiration date, or no certified results are available by expiration, all markets resolve to No. If a recount occurs before expiration and changes the certified percentage, the most recent certified figure is used for resolution.
Prediction markets and traditional polls often diverge because they measure different things. Polls capture voter preference at a single moment, while this market aggregates real-time expectations from traders who have financial incentive to forecast accurately. Market participants incorporate polling data alongside campaign momentum, turnout models, and late-breaking news. Over time, prediction markets have demonstrated competitive or superior accuracy compared to polling averages for primary elections, particularly as the event date approaches and new information becomes available. Comparing current odds to recent polls can reveal whether traders are pricing in factors polls may not yet reflect.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where buyers and sellers trade contracts representing Sullivan's vote share outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each contract reflects the collective probability estimate of all active traders. As new information emerges—such as endorsements, debate performance, or updated polling—traders adjust their bids and offers, causing the contract price to move. Higher prices indicate stronger confidence in a higher vote share, while lower prices suggest traders expect a lower result. The spread between bid and ask prices reflects market liquidity and consensus certainty.
This market resolves around Jul 7, 2027, once the Alaska Senate primary election has concluded and results are verified. The outcome will be confirmed against credible public reporting of Sullivan's official vote percentage in the first round. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the actual vote share range will receive payouts based on the final tally. Until that date, the market remains open for trading, allowing participants to adjust positions as new campaign developments and polling data emerge. Early resolution is possible if Sullivan withdraws or the primary is cancelled.
Several catalysts could shift trader expectations and market prices before resolution. Major polling releases showing changes in Sullivan's support would likely trigger immediate repricing. Campaign announcements, debate performances, endorsements from prominent Alaska figures, and media coverage of primary dynamics all influence sentiment. Turnout forecasts and demographic shifts in voter registration could also move odds. National political developments affecting Senate races may indirectly impact this market. Finally, unexpected candidate withdrawals or changes to the primary format would alter the competitive landscape and reset market expectations for Sullivan's vote share outcome.
