This market tracks what share of valid votes Abelardo de la Espriella will receive in Colombia's 2026 presidential election first round. On Polymarket, the leading outcome—that he captures between 30% and 35% of votes—stands at 36.0%, while the 35% to 40% range is at 31.5%. Resolution will be determined by Colombia's official election results. Watch the May 31, 2026 first-round vote count to see whether de la Espriella's support consolidates within either of these ranges or shifts elsewhere.
Colombia's presidential elections are scheduled for May 31, 2026, and a second round (if required) on June 21, 2026, in case no candidate secures more than 50% of the valid votes in the first round. This market will resolve according to the share of valid votes Abelardo de la Espriella wins in the first round of the 2026 Colombian presidential election. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If a recount is initiated before the vote total has been made official, the market will remain open until the recount is completed and the vote is made official. This market's resolution will be based solely on the proportion of valid votes won by Abelardo de la Espriella, not any coalition of which he may be a part. If the results of the election aren’t known by December 31, 2026 ET, this market will resolve to the lowest range bracket.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader expectations, which often diverge from traditional polling averages. While polls measure voter sentiment at a single point in time, prediction markets incorporate ongoing information, expert analysis, and financial incentives for accuracy. De la Espriella's market odds may run higher or lower than poll numbers depending on how traders weigh recent campaign developments, coalition shifts, and economic conditions. Comparing the two reveals whether markets are pricing in scenarios that surveys have not yet captured or whether consensus exists between both signals.
The market is scheduled to resolve on May 31, 2026, following the conclusion of Colombia's 2026 presidential first-round election. Resolution will be determined by official results from Colombia's electoral authority, which will confirm de la Espriella's actual vote share. The outcome will settle based on whether his final tally meets or exceeds the specified threshold in the contract terms. Traders should monitor official announcements and electoral commission reports as the resolution date approaches to understand how the outcome will be officially determined.
Several catalysts could shift market odds for de la Espriella before May 31, 2026. Major campaign announcements, coalition endorsements, or withdrawals by rival candidates would reshape his perceived viability. Economic crises or policy shifts in Colombia could alter voter preferences. Polling releases showing strength or weakness in key demographics would trigger repricing. Debate performances, scandal revelations, or campaign funding developments also influence trader sentiment. International events affecting Colombia's stability or regional dynamics may impact his appeal. Each of these signals could prompt traders to reassess his first-round vote share and adjust positions accordingly.
