Description

A "full lid" at the White House is an official announcement indicating that the President's public activities for the day have concluded and no further public events, appearances, or news are expected. This market will resolve to “Yes” if the White House Press Office calls a full lid for the specified date by 6:30 PM ET on that date. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Only a full lid will qualify; lunch lids, intermissions, or any other press lid not explicitly listed as a full lid will not be sufficient to qualify this market towards a "Yes" resolution. A qualifying full lid may be reported by the resolution sources through 11:59 PM ET on the following day, provided the source indicates that it was called by the 6:30 PM ET cutoff. This market will resolve according to the time listed by Roll Call of the first full lid called in the daily calendar (https://rollcall.com/factbase/trump/calendar/). If Roll Call does not list a lid time or is for any reason unavailable, this market will resolve according to Forth (https://www.forth.news/whpool).

Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the White House lid call market tracks the current odds of whether the White House will issue a 'full lid' – a notification that the President’s day is complete and no further public events are scheduled – by 6:30 PM on October 29. It displays the implied probability of this occurring, along with the 24-hour trading volume of $483 and the total volume traded to date of $2,066. This allows participants to monitor market sentiment and activity surrounding this specific event.

Currently, the odds on Polymarket suggest a very high probability that the White House will call a full lid by the specified time. This contrasts with traditional polling, which typically focuses on broader public opinion or sentiment regarding the President’s activities. While polls can indicate general approval or disapproval, this market directly assesses the likelihood of a specific, observable action – the issuance of a lid call. Discrepancies may arise due to the different methodologies and the information factored into each assessment.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where participants buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd, converging towards the true probability as more information becomes available. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price indicates a strong expectation that a full lid will be called, with traders willing to pay a premium for shares representing that outcome. This dynamic pricing allows for real-time assessment of the event’s likelihood.

This market resolves around Oct 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, resolution will depend on whether the White House officially announces a 'full lid' before 6:30 PM on October 29. The determination will be based on publicly available statements or official notifications from the White House press office, ensuring transparency and objectivity in the resolution process. The outcome will be a simple binary result: either a lid was called by the deadline, or it was not.

Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market. Unexpected schedule changes for the President, such as the addition of a late-day event or travel plans, would likely decrease the probability of a lid call and lower the price. Conversely, indications that the President intends to conclude official duties early, or unforeseen circumstances that limit activity, could increase the likelihood of a lid and raise prices. Any official communication from the White House regarding the President’s schedule will be closely watched by traders in this market.
