This market tracks whether Virginia voters will approve a constitutional amendment establishing a right to reproductive freedom during the state's midterm elections. On Polymarket, the leading outcome currently stands at 97.0%. Resolution will be determined by official results from the Virginia Department of Elections following the November 3, 2026 ballot vote. Watch for any developments regarding ballot certification or legal challenges that could affect whether the amendment appears on the November 2026 ballot.
Virginia voters are scheduled to vote in the November 3, 2026 midterm elections on a constitutional amendment which, if passed, would establish a constitutional right to reproductive freedom in the state. This market will resolve to “Yes” if the Virginia Right to Reproductive Freedom constitutional amendment passes according to Virginia election procedure. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” If this constitutional amendment is removed from the November 3, 2026 ballot in Virginia, this market will resolve immediately to “No.” If, for any reason, the results of this vote are not known by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “No.” This market will resolve based on the results of the vote according to a consensus of credible reporting. In case of ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results reported by the Commonwealth of Virginia, specifically the Virginia Department of Elections (https://www.elections.virginia.gov/results/).
Currently, this market indicates a 93.5% probability of the Virginia abortion amendment passing. This contrasts with recent polling data, which shows varying levels of support for the amendment. While polls capture a snapshot of public opinion at a given time, this market reflects what traders believe will *actually* happen, incorporating a wider range of information and potential influencing factors. Discrepancies between prediction market odds and polling averages can offer insights into the perceived credibility of polls or the anticipation of unforeseen events influencing the outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the amendment's passage. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of the outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares bought, the higher the price and the greater the perceived chance of success. Conversely, increased selling pressure lowers the price, indicating decreasing confidence. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adapt to new information and trader sentiment.
This market resolves around Nov 4, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on whether the proposed constitutional amendment to protect abortion rights is officially approved by Virginia voters in a statewide referendum. The official results from the Virginia Department of Elections will serve as the basis for determining the winning outcome of this market. Traders should monitor news sources for updates on the referendum and its final certification.
Several factors could significantly influence this market. Major court rulings related to abortion rights, either at the state or federal level, could shift sentiment. Significant endorsements or opposition from key political figures in Virginia could also impact trading activity. Furthermore, any changes to the wording of the proposed amendment or unexpected events affecting voter turnout could move the market. Finally, the release of new polling data, particularly if it deviates substantially from current averages, is likely to cause fluctuations in the odds for this market.
