This event tracks whether the FDA will approve gedatolisib as a treatment for hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative, PIK3CA wild-type advanced breast cancer before a specified deadline. Gedatolisib is an investigational phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitor being developed to address a specific subset of advanced breast cancer patients. The approval would represent a significant milestone in precision oncology for this particular patient population.
The event resolves Yes if the FDA approves gedatolisib for HR+/HER2-, PIK3CA wild-type advanced breast cancer before the specified deadline. Qualifying approvals include FDA issuance of an approval letter for a New Drug Application (NDA) or Biologics License Application (BLA), supplemental NDA (sNDA) or supplemental BLA (sBLA) for the specific indication, standard approval, accelerated approval, or approval with Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) or restricted distribution. Approvals with indication limitations qualify, except for compassionate use or expanded access programs only. Complete Response Letters, approvable letters requiring additional actions, tentative approvals pending patent expiration, FDA information requests, Emergency Use Authorization without full approval, and approvals only for export do not constitute qualifying approvals. If a Complete Response Letter is issued before the deadline, the market resolves No unless the FDA subsequently approves the drug after addressing CRL concerns before the deadline. If an Advisory Committee votes against approval but the FDA approves anyway, the market resolves Yes. If accelerated approval is later withdrawn before the deadline, the market resolves Yes based on the initial approval. If the sponsor withdraws the application before FDA action, the market resolves No immediately. Five separate deadlines are specified (July 1, 2026; August 1, 2026; October 1, 2026; January 1, 2027; and July 1, 2027).
Prediction market odds on Kalshi reflect real-money trader expectations and can differ meaningfully from published analyst forecasts or consensus estimates. While analysts may rely on clinical trial timelines and regulatory precedent, prediction markets incorporate broader information signals, including insider sentiment and market-wide risk assessment. Comparing the current market probability to recent analyst notes or institutional research reports can reveal whether traders are pricing in more optimism or caution than the research community. This divergence often highlights areas of genuine uncertainty around gedatolisib's regulatory pathway.
The market resolves on Jul 8, 2027. Resolution is determined by whether the FDA issues an approval decision for gedatolisib in the specified indication before the deadline. Traders should monitor FDA communications, clinical trial announcements, and company press releases for signals of imminent regulatory action. The outcome hinges on whether gedatolisib meets the agency's efficacy and safety standards for the indicated patient population. Any formal FDA approval announcement will trigger market settlement.
Key catalysts include Phase 3 trial data releases, FDA advisory committee meetings, regulatory feedback letters, and company earnings calls discussing gedatolisib's development timeline. Positive efficacy or safety data could boost approval odds, while trial delays, safety concerns, or negative comparator data could reduce them. Competitive approvals in the same indication or shifts in treatment guidelines may also influence market pricing. Regulatory precedent for similar PI3K inhibitors and any FDA guidance updates on breast cancer trials represent additional signals traders monitor closely.
