Examining these differences can be valuable for understanding market sentiment and potential biases in traditional forecasting methods, especially regarding the financial performance of S&P Global.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a 'yes' contract reflects the probability of S&P Global’s Q3 rating revenues being above the specified level. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price fluctuates based on supply and demand, driven by new information, trading activity, and shifts in overall market sentiment. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable trades are rewarded, and incorrect predictions result in losses. This dynamic process aims to converge towards a true probability assessment.
