This set of markets tracks whether the USD to Norwegian Krone exchange rate will exceed specific thresholds at a precise moment. Each market focuses on a different price level, allowing participants to speculate on the exact exchange rate movement at that time.
All markets resolve based on the USDNOK exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 16, 2026, as published by Pyth. For each market, if the rate exceeds its specified threshold at that exact time, it resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. Post-expiration revisions to the exchange rate are disregarded. Values are rounded to four decimal places unless otherwise stated. If Pyth does not provide data at the specified time, the most recent available value is used for resolution.
Currently, it's important to note that this market represents the collective prediction of traders on Kalshi. Comparing these odds to traditional analyst forecasts reveals how the ‘wisdom of the crowd’ differs from expert opinions. If analysts generally predict the USDNOK exchange rate will remain stable, we might see higher probabilities assigned to outcomes reflecting that expectation within this market. Conversely, if analysts foresee volatility, the probabilities may be more spread out. It’s a fascinating way to gauge differing perspectives on the same financial event.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, meaning traders can buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether the USDNOK exchange rate will be above 9.563 at the specified time. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of these contracts fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective sentiment of participants. As more traders believe the rate will be above the threshold, the price of ‘yes’ contracts increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities accordingly.
This market resolves around Oct 16, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the USDNOK exchange rate as reported by a widely recognized financial data provider at 5:00 PM EDT on October 16th. If the reported rate is above 9.563, contracts predicting ‘yes’ will pay out $1.00 per contract, while contracts predicting ‘no’ will expire worthless. The final price will reflect the collective prediction of traders leading up to this point.
Several factors could influence the USDNOK exchange rate and, consequently, this market. Major economic data releases from the United States or Norway, such as inflation reports, employment figures, or GDP growth, could significantly impact the currency pair. Unexpected geopolitical events or shifts in global risk sentiment could also drive fluctuations. Furthermore, any announcements from the Federal Reserve or Norges Bank regarding monetary policy could trigger substantial movements. Traders will be closely monitoring these signals to adjust their positions in this market.
