This set of markets tracks the performance of the USD to MXN exchange rate at a specific future moment. Each market will settle based on whether the rate exceeds a particular threshold, offering various perspectives on potential currency strength or weakness.
All markets resolve based on the USDMXN exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 23, 2026, as published by Pyth. For each market, if the rate is above the specified threshold at that exact time, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if no value is published at the exact time, and revisions to the exchange rate after the expiration time are disregarded. All values are rounded to four decimal places for resolution purposes.
Currently, it’s important to note that analyst forecasts for the USDMXN exchange rate vary widely, depending on the institution and their economic models. This market provides a different perspective, reflecting the collective wisdom of traders actively putting their capital at risk. While traditional forecasts rely on models and assumptions, this market aggregates real-time expectations. Comparing the implied probability of a specific USDMXN level in this market to the median analyst forecast can reveal whether traders are more or less optimistic than experts.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, similar to a stock exchange. Traders submit bids (the price they’re willing to buy) and asks (the price they’re willing to sell) for contracts representing a one-unit payoff if the USDMXN exchange rate meets the market’s condition. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price reflects the consensus expectation of traders regarding the probability of that outcome. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price will adjust to reflect the evolving sentiment.
This market resolves around Oct 23, 2026, with the outcome determined by the USDMXN exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 23, 2026. The final price will be verified against credible public reporting of the exchange rate from a recognized financial data provider. The contracts will pay out $1.00 to those who correctly predicted the exchange rate’s level and $0.00 to those who predicted incorrectly. Traders should monitor the market closely as the resolution date approaches.
Numerous factors could influence the USDMXN exchange rate and, consequently, this market. Major economic data releases from both the United States and Mexico, such as inflation reports, employment figures, and GDP growth, will likely have an impact. Unexpected political developments in either country, shifts in global risk sentiment, and changes in monetary policy by the Federal Reserve or Banco de México are also key catalysts. Furthermore, significant fluctuations in oil prices – a major export for Mexico – could move this market considerably.
