This set of markets tracks the performance of the USD to INR exchange rate at a specific future date and time. Each market has a different threshold value, and the outcome depends on whether the exchange rate exceeds that threshold at the specified moment.
All markets in this event are resolved based on the USDINR exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 30, 2026, as published by Pyth. For each market, if the rate is above the specified threshold at that exact time, the market resolves to 'Yes'; otherwise, it resolves to 'No'. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if no data is published at the exact time, and revisions to the underlying data after the expiration time are disregarded. All rates are rounded to four decimal places for resolution purposes.
Currently, it is difficult to directly compare the odds in this market to traditional analyst forecasts for the USDINR exchange rate. However, prediction markets often reflect a 'wisdom of the crowd' effect, incorporating diverse perspectives and real-time information. This can lead to forecasts that differ from those of individual analysts or institutions, as this market aggregates the views of many participants. It’s important to remember that analyst forecasts are often point estimates, while this market represents a probability distribution of potential outcomes.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about whether the USDINR exchange rate will be above 95.089 at the specified time. The price of these contracts reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price fluctuates based on supply and demand, driven by traders responding to news, economic data, and their own analysis of the USDINR exchange rate. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows for a real-time assessment of market expectations.
This market resolves around Oct 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the USDINR exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 30th is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official exchange rate reported by a widely recognized financial data provider. Traders will then be paid out based on whether their contracts align with the final exchange rate, reflecting the collective prediction of the market participants. This ensures a transparent and objective determination of the market's outcome.
Several factors could significantly impact this market before Oct 30, 2026. Major economic data releases from the United States or India, such as inflation reports, GDP figures, or employment numbers, could influence the USDINR exchange rate. Geopolitical events, including shifts in global risk sentiment or policy changes by either government, could also play a role. Unexpected announcements from the Reserve Bank of India or the Federal Reserve regarding monetary policy are also likely to move this market. Finally, significant fluctuations in global oil prices can impact the Indian Rupee and, consequently, the USDINR exchange rate.
