This set of markets tracks the performance of the USD to INR exchange rate at a specific future date and time. Each market will resolve based on whether the exchange rate exceeds a particular threshold, allowing participants to speculate on currency strength or weakness.
All markets resolve based on the USDINR exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 23, 2026, as published by Pyth. Each market has a unique threshold; if the rate is above its respective threshold at that time, the market resolves to Yes, otherwise to No. Data revisions after expiration are disregarded, and values are rounded to four decimal places. If Pyth lacks data at the exact time, the most recent available value is used for resolution.
Currently, it's difficult to directly compare the odds in this market to traditional analyst forecasts. However, broadly speaking, prediction markets often aggregate diverse information and participant viewpoints, potentially offering a different perspective than individual analyst predictions. If analysts are widely predicting a specific range for the USDINR exchange rate, we might see that reflected in the probabilities offered here. Discrepancies between this market and analyst expectations could signal areas of disagreement or uncertainty about the future direction of the exchange rate.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the future USDINR exchange rate. The price of these contracts fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective wisdom of the crowd. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are incentivized to set accurate probabilities, as profitable trades depend on correctly predicting the outcome. The current price reflects the market's assessment of the likelihood of the USDINR exchange rate being above or below a certain level at the specified time.
This market resolves around Oct 23, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the USDINR exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 23rd is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final price will be determined by a reputable financial data source, and the market will settle based on whether the USDINR exchange rate at that moment is above or below the level specified in the market contract. This ensures a transparent and objective determination of the outcome.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Major economic data releases from the United States or India, such as inflation reports, GDP figures, or employment numbers, could influence the USDINR exchange rate. Unexpected geopolitical events, shifts in global risk sentiment, or changes in monetary policy by the Federal Reserve or the Reserve Bank of India are also potential catalysts. Furthermore, large currency interventions by either country’s central bank could cause substantial movements in this market.
