This set of markets tracks whether the USDCHF exchange rate will exceed various thresholds at a specific future moment. Each market corresponds to a different price level, with resolution based solely on the rate observed at the exact expiration time.
All markets resolve based on the USDCHF exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 30, 2026, as published by Pyth. For any given market, if the rate at that exact time is above the specified threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if no value is published at the exact time, and revisions occurring after the expiration time are disregarded. All rates are rounded to four decimal places for resolution purposes.
Currently, the prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than many traditional analyst forecasts for the USDCHF exchange rate. While some analysts predict a strengthening dollar, this market shows a more nuanced view, with traders pricing in a range of potential outcomes. It's important to note that analyst forecasts often rely on economic models and historical data, whereas this market incorporates real-time information and the collective judgment of a diverse group of participants. Discrepancies can arise due to differing assumptions or the incorporation of unforeseen events.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, meaning traders can buy and sell contracts representing different price levels for the USDCHF exchange rate. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that price being reached at the specified time. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the evolving consensus view. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable trades are rewarded, and inaccurate predictions result in losses. This dynamic pricing mechanism aims to create a market that accurately reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd.
This market resolves around Oct 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the USDCHF exchange rate is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final price will be determined by the mid-price of the USDCHF exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 30, 2026, as reported by a widely recognized financial data provider. The market will then settle based on whether the actual exchange rate falls above or below the various price levels offered in the contracts. All trading will cease at the resolution time, and payouts will be calculated accordingly.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before Oct 30, 2026. Major economic data releases from both the United States and Switzerland, such as inflation reports, employment figures, and GDP growth rates, are likely to influence the USDCHF exchange rate. Unexpected geopolitical events, shifts in monetary policy by the Federal Reserve or the Swiss National Bank, and changes in global risk sentiment could also trigger substantial price movements. Furthermore, any surprising news related to the economic health of either country could impact trader confidence and alter the market's trajectory.
