This set of markets tracks potential future movements in the USDCHF exchange rate, focusing on whether the rate will exceed specific thresholds at a defined moment. Each market represents a different threshold level, allowing participants to speculate on various possible outcomes for the currency pair's value.
All markets resolve based on the USDCHF exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 9, 2026, as published by Pyth. For each market, if the rate exceeds the specified threshold (e.g., 0.811, 0.813, etc.), the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if no value is published exactly at 5pm ET. Revisions to the exchange rate after the expiration time are disregarded. All rates are rounded to four decimal places for resolution purposes.
Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts may rely on economic models and fundamental analysis, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, incorporating a wider range of information and potential unforeseen events. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, especially in the short term. Examining these differences can be insightful, as the market’s price movements represent a collective assessment of the likelihood of various outcomes for the USDCHF price.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, where traders buy and sell contracts representing different price ranges for USDCHF. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that price range being the correct one at the specified time. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the collective expectation. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and shifts in sentiment, offering a real-time assessment of the USDCHF price outlook.
This market resolves around Oct 9, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the USDCHF price at 5:00 PM EDT on October 9th is verifiable from credible public reporting. The market will settle to the value of 100 minus the absolute difference between the final USDCHF price and the contract's strike price, expressed in basis points. For example, a contract with a strike price of 0.8950 would settle to 100 - |0.8950 - Actual Price| * 100. This provides a clear and objective determination of the market's outcome.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before Oct 9, 2026. Unexpected economic data releases from the United States or Switzerland, such as inflation reports, employment figures, or GDP growth, could influence the USDCHF exchange rate. Geopolitical events, shifts in monetary policy by the Federal Reserve or the Swiss National Bank, and even major news headlines related to either country’s economy could all contribute to price volatility and impact trading activity in this market. Any surprise announcements or developments are likely to be quickly reflected in the market’s price.
