This set of markets tracks potential movements in the USD to CAD exchange rate at a specific future moment. Each market evaluates whether the rate surpasses a particular threshold, allowing participants to speculate on currency strength dynamics without predicting exact values.
All markets resolve based on the USDCAD exchange rate's opening value at 5pm ET on October 30, 2026, as published by Pyth. For any market, if the rate exceeds its specified threshold at that exact time, it resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if real-time data is unavailable at 5pm ET. Post-expiration revisions to the exchange rate do not affect the outcome. All rates are rounded to four decimal places for resolution purposes. Each market features a distinct threshold between 1.383 and 1.421, creating a range of possible outcomes depending on where the actual rate falls relative to these levels at the specified expiration moment.
Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts may rely on economic models and fundamental analysis, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, incorporating a wider range of information and potential catalysts. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially when unforeseen events or shifts in market sentiment occur. Comparing this market’s implied probabilities to those offered by financial news outlets and expert opinions can reveal areas of agreement or disagreement regarding the USDCAD price on Oct 30, 2026.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell contracts representing different USDCAD price ranges. The price of each contract fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective belief of participants about the likely outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders express their views, the market price converges towards a consensus expectation. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows for real-time adjustments based on new information and changing sentiment surrounding the Canadian dollar and US dollar exchange rate.
This market resolves around Oct 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the USDCAD price at 5:00 PM EDT on October 30th is verifiable from credible public reporting. The market will settle to the value of 100 minus the absolute difference between the final USDCAD price and the market’s central price. This means traders who accurately predicted the price range will receive a payout, while those who predicted incorrectly may lose their stake. The final price will be sourced from publicly available financial data feeds.
Several factors could significantly impact this market before Oct 30, 2026. Unexpected economic data releases from either the United States or Canada, such as inflation reports, employment figures, or GDP growth, could trigger substantial price movements. Geopolitical events, shifts in global risk appetite, and changes in monetary policy by the Federal Reserve or the Bank of Canada are also key catalysts. Furthermore, any significant news related to oil prices, as Canada is a major oil exporter, could influence the USDCAD exchange rate and, consequently, this market.
