This set of markets tracks potential movements in the USD to CAD exchange rate at a specific future moment. Each market evaluates whether the rate surpasses a particular threshold, offering insights into various possible outcomes for currency valuation.
All markets resolve based on the USDCAD exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 16, 2026, as published by Pyth. For each market, if the rate exceeds the specified threshold (e.g., 1.405, 1.407, etc.), it resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if no value is published exactly at 5pm ET. Revisions to the exchange rate after the expiration time are disregarded. All rates are rounded to four decimal places for resolution purposes.
Currently, it’s useful to consider how the collective wisdom of traders in this market aligns with external forecasts. Many financial analysts are also predicting the USDCAD exchange rate, and their projections often consider factors like interest rate differentials, oil prices, and economic data releases. Comparing these forecasts to the probabilities reflected in this market can reveal whether traders anticipate similar trends or diverge in their expectations. It’s important to note that prediction markets represent a different type of forecast, based on incentivized predictions rather than expert opinion.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether the USDCAD exchange rate will be above 1.405 at the specified time. The price of these contracts fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective judgment of all participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The closer we get to the resolution date, the more the price will likely reflect real-time market conditions and any significant economic news. Traders aim to profit by accurately predicting the outcome and capitalizing on discrepancies between their beliefs and the market price.
This market resolves around Oct 16, 2026, with the outcome determined by the USDCAD exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 16th. The final price will be verified against credible public reporting from financial data providers. If the USDCAD exchange rate is above 1.405 at that time, contracts predicting ‘Yes’ will pay out $1.00 per contract, while contracts predicting ‘No’ will expire worthless. Traders should monitor the exchange rate closely as the resolution date approaches to understand the potential outcome of this market.
Several key signals and events could significantly influence the USDCAD price market. Major economic data releases from both the United States and Canada, such as employment reports, inflation figures, and GDP growth, will likely impact the exchange rate. Unexpected shifts in monetary policy by the Federal Reserve or the Bank of Canada could also trigger substantial price movements. Geopolitical events and fluctuations in oil prices, given Canada’s status as a major oil exporter, are additional factors to watch. Traders should stay informed about these developments to assess their potential impact on this market.
