This set of markets tracks potential future movements in the USD to BRL exchange rate at a specific future date and time. Each market represents a different threshold value, allowing participants to speculate on whether the exchange rate will exceed various levels by the expiration timestamp.
All markets resolve based on the opening candlestick value of the USDBRL exchange rate published by Pyth at exactly 5:00 PM ET on October 23, 2026. Each individual market has a unique threshold value, ranging incrementally from 5.035 to 5.073. If the published exchange rate at the specified time is above the market's designated threshold, that market resolves to 'Yes'; otherwise, it resolves to 'No'. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if no value is published exactly at 5:00 PM ET. All values are rounded to four decimal places for resolution purposes, and any revisions to the exchange rate after the expiration time are disregarded when determining outcomes.
Comparing prediction market odds to analyst forecasts reveals how collective intelligence stacks up against expert opinion. Often, this market reflects a different perspective than traditional polls or financial analyst predictions, potentially incorporating a wider range of information and reacting more quickly to new developments. While analysts may offer point estimates, this market provides a probability distribution of possible outcomes, offering a more nuanced view of potential future scenarios for the USDBRL exchange rate. Discrepancies can arise due to differing methodologies and biases inherent in each approach.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different price levels for the USDBRL exchange rate. The price of each contract reflects the market's collective assessment of the probability of that price occurring at the specified time. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders willing to buy a contract, the higher its price, and vice versa. This dynamic process ensures that the market price continuously adjusts to incorporate new information and changing expectations about the future exchange rate, creating a real-time forecast.
This market resolves around Oct 23, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the USDBRL exchange rate is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will settle based on the midpoint price of the USDBRL exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 23rd, as reported by a widely recognized financial data provider. The platform will then determine which contracts correspond to the actual outcome and distribute payouts accordingly to those who correctly predicted the price level. This ensures a transparent and objective resolution process.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before Oct 23, 2026. Major economic data releases from both the United States and Brazil, such as inflation reports, GDP growth figures, and employment numbers, are key catalysts. Unexpected political developments in either country, including policy changes or shifts in government leadership, could also impact the USDBRL exchange rate. Furthermore, global risk sentiment, fluctuations in commodity prices (particularly oil), and changes in interest rate expectations by the Federal Reserve or the Brazilian Central Bank could all influence trading activity and price movements in this market.
