This set of markets tracks potential movements in the USD to BRL exchange rate at a specific future date and time. Each market has a different threshold, allowing participants to speculate on whether the rate will exceed various levels.
All markets resolve based on the opening candlestick value of the USDBRL exchange rate published by Pyth at 5pm ET on October 9, 2026. For each market, if the rate is above the specified threshold at that exact time, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. Revisions to the exchange rate after the expiration time are disregarded. Values are rounded to four decimal places. If Pyth does not publish data at the specified time, the most recently available value is used for resolution.
Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts may rely on economic models and geopolitical assessments, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, representing a diverse range of opinions and information. Discrepancies can arise from differing assumptions about factors influencing the USDBRL exchange rate, such as Brazilian monetary policy, global risk appetite, or commodity price fluctuations. It’s important to consider both viewpoints when forming your own assessment of the likely outcome.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the USDBRL exchange rate. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that specific exchange rate occurring at the settlement time. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable trades are rewarded. The market depth, indicated by the bid-ask spread, provides insight into the level of agreement among traders regarding the potential price movements of the USDBRL exchange rate.
This market resolves around Oct 9, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the USDBRL exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 9th is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final price reported by a reputable financial data provider will determine whether contracts predicting a price above or below a certain level will pay out. Traders will be able to see the verified exchange rate and the resulting payouts on Kalshi following the resolution of this market.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before Oct 9, 2026. Unexpected economic data releases from either the United States or Brazil, such as inflation figures or GDP growth rates, could influence the USDBRL exchange rate. Geopolitical events, shifts in global commodity prices (particularly oil), and changes in monetary policy by the Federal Reserve or the Central Bank of Brazil are all potential catalysts. Furthermore, major political developments in either country or significant shifts in global risk sentiment could also impact trading activity in this market.
