This market will resolve to "Yes" if any U.S. federal court formally holds President Donald J. Trump, or any official, agency, employee, or representative of the Trump administration, in contempt of court in connection with the September 2026 revocation of White House press access for CNN, MS NOW, and/or Politico or a related court order, by October 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Civil or criminal contempt will qualify. The following will not qualify on their own: the filing of a motion for contempt; an order to show cause why a party should not be held in contempt; a finding of probable cause that criminal contempt has occurred; a judge's verbal warning or admonishment; or sanctions, fees, or other relief imposed without a contempt finding. A qualifying contempt finding that is subsequently stayed, vacated, or reversed will still resolve this market to "Yes", provided the finding was issued on or before October 31, 2026. The resolution source will be official federal court records, however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of the Trump Administration being held in contempt. As more traders buy shares, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived likelihood of the event. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is driven by supply and demand, with traders adjusting their positions based on new information and evolving expectations. This creates a dynamic and responsive assessment of the situation.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether a formal finding of contempt is issued by a relevant legal body concerning a press ban enacted by the Trump Administration before the resolution date. The outcome will be based on publicly available documentation and reporting, and will not rely on subjective interpretation. Traders should monitor news sources for updates related to any legal proceedings or rulings concerning this matter.
Several signals could significantly impact this market. Any official statements from the Department of Justice regarding potential contempt proceedings, or rulings from courts concerning challenges to press restrictions, would likely cause price movement. Major news reports detailing investigations or legal challenges related to the press ban could also influence trader behavior. Unexpected political developments, such as changes in key personnel or shifts in the Administration’s policy, could also play a role. Monitoring these events will be crucial for understanding how this market evolves.
