Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the SPY/USDT price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than the price at the beginning of that range. It will resolve to "Down" if the SPY/USDT price at the end of the time range is lower than the price at the beginning of that range. If the two prices are exactly equal, the market will resolve 50-50. The primary resolution source for this market is Chainlink, specifically the SPY/USDT data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/spy-usdt-markpriceindex-datalink?timeframe=1d&chart=candlestick To verify the final price, use the close price of the 5m candlestick just before the market's end time. For example, for a market running from 1:00 to 1:15 PM ET, use the close price of the 1:10 PM candlestick as the final price. The resolution source uses the index price (field i) from Binance's USDS-Margined Futures Mark Price Stream for All Markets (!markPrice@arr), denominated in the quote currency. This market is based solely on the price reported by the Chainlink SPY/USDT data stream, not on other sources or futures markets. If Chainlink data is unavailable or otherwise unusable for resolution, the market will resolve based on a consensus of reliable sources. 2026-10-27T18:30:00Z

On Predict, the dashboard for the SPY direction market tracks the current odds, price history, and 24-hour trading volume. Currently, the total volume for this market is $450, with $448 traded in the last 24 hours. The dashboard provides a visual representation of how traders are pricing the probability of the SPY closing up or down by 2:45 PM ET on October 27th. This allows users to quickly assess market sentiment and identify potential trading opportunities related to this short-term directional forecast.

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. Analysts frequently base their predictions on fundamental and technical analysis, while this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, incorporating a wider range of information and potential biases. If analysts are overwhelmingly bullish on the SPY, you might see a lower probability assigned to an upward move in this market if traders anticipate profit-taking or an upcoming correction. Discrepancies can arise due to differing methodologies and information sets used to form opinions.

On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the SPY's direction. The price of these contracts directly reflects the implied probability of the SPY closing up or down by 2:45 PM ET on October 27th. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price adjusts dynamically based on supply and demand, meaning that as more traders bet on a particular outcome, the price of that outcome's contract will increase, and vice versa. This creates a real-time assessment of market expectations.

This market resolves around Oct 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will be based on whether the SPY ETF closed higher or lower between 2:30 PM and 2:45 PM Eastern Time on October 27th. The final price of the SPY during that 15-minute window will determine whether the 'Up' or 'Down' outcome is declared. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on their positions in this market.

Several signals or events could significantly move this market before it resolves. Major economic data releases scheduled before October 27th, such as inflation reports or GDP figures, could influence investor sentiment and impact the SPY's direction. Unexpected geopolitical events or corporate earnings announcements from large companies within the S&P 500 could also create volatility. Furthermore, any shifts in Federal Reserve policy expectations or comments from key policymakers could drive trading activity in this market, as traders adjust their forecasts based on new information.
