This market tracks whether the Saudi Oil Pipeline (East-West) will restart by October 31st. Currently, Polymarket gives a 100.0% probability to this outcome. The market resolves based on official information from the government of Saudi Arabia, as detailed in the resolution source. Traders should watch for announcements from the Saudi Ministry of Energy, as the market will resolve to “Yes” if a qualifying announcement is made indicating the pipeline is operational before 11:59 PM ET on December 1, 2026, which represents the end of the betting period.
On September 11, 2026, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy announced that the East-West oil pipeline has been shut down. This market will resolve to “Yes” if the government of Saudi Arabia announces that the East-West oil pipeline is operational or no longer shut down between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. A qualifying announcement must express that the pipeline is presently operating; operation at partial or reduced capacity qualifies. Announcements that attribute such a claim to third parties, state that the pipeline will or may operate in the future, describe work underway to restore operation, or frame resumption as expected, planned, or conditional, will not qualify. Once a qualifying announcement is made, this market will resolve to “Yes,” regardless of any subsequent contradictory statements, or alternative information from other sources. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Saudi Arabia.
Currently, prediction market participants on Polymarket indicate a high probability that the Saudi oil pipeline restart will occur by September 30th. This contrasts with broader analyst expectations, which are more varied and often less definitive regarding specific timelines. While polls and expert opinions provide valuable context, this market represents a direct assessment of probabilities by individuals with 'skin in the game,' potentially offering a more accurate forecast. The collective wisdom of traders in this market often reflects a nuanced understanding of geopolitical factors and logistical challenges.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes. The price of each share reflects the market's implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are driven by supply and demand, influenced by news events, geopolitical developments, and overall market sentiment regarding the Saudi oil pipeline. Higher demand for shares representing an earlier restart date will drive up the price, indicating increased confidence in that scenario.
This market resolves around Dec 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on official announcements from Saudi authorities regarding the full resumption of oil flow through the East-West pipeline. The market will assess whether the pipeline is operational and transporting oil by the specified date. Any delays or disruptions to the restart process will impact the resolution, with the outcome determined by the verifiable status of the pipeline at the time of resolution.
Several signals could significantly impact this market. Official statements from Saudi Aramco or the Saudi government regarding the pipeline’s repair status and expected restart date would be key catalysts. Unexpected geopolitical events in the region, such as attacks on oil infrastructure or shifts in regional alliances, could also move the market. Additionally, reports on oil production levels and global demand could influence traders’ assessments of the urgency and likelihood of a swift pipeline restart. Any news suggesting significant delays or complications would likely lower the probability of an earlier resolution.
