On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, traders set the odds through buying and selling contracts that represent the probability of each candidate finishing second. The current implied chance for the leading outcome reflects collective trader assessment of each contender’s prospects. This market resolves around Oct 5, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the election results are verifiable from credible public reporting. The second-place finisher will be determined by official vote tallies, and the market will close based on those verified figures. Timing depends on when authoritative sources announce final results, typically following the election night count and any required recounts.
Several events could shift odds in this market before resolution, including major polling updates, candidate debates, scandals, campaign financing announcements, or shifts in voter registration trends. Economic developments, national political climate changes, and media coverage focusing on key issues can also influence trader sentiment. Any development that alters perceptions of candidates’ viability may cause rapid price movements on Polymarket.
