This set of markets tracks the performance of the NZDUSD currency pair at a specific future date and time. Each market has a different threshold value, and the outcome depends on whether the exchange rate exceeds that threshold at the specified moment.
All markets in this event are resolved based on the NZDUSD exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on October 30, 2026, as published by Pyth. For each market, if the rate is above the specified threshold at that exact time, the market resolves to 'Yes'; otherwise, it resolves to 'No'. The resolution uses the most recent available data from Pyth if no value is published at the exact time, and revisions to the underlying data after the expiration time are not considered. All rates are rounded to four decimal places for resolution purposes.
Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts may base their predictions on economic models and fundamental analysis, this market aggregates the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders. This can lead to divergences, especially when anticipating the impact of unforeseen events or shifts in market sentiment. It’s common to see this market pricing in probabilities that differ from the consensus view offered by financial news outlets and expert opinions, offering a unique signal about potential price movements.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different price outcomes for the NZDUSD pair. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are constantly adjusting their bids and asks based on new information, leading to a dynamic and real-time assessment of market expectations. The more traders believe a particular price range is likely, the higher the contract price will climb, and vice versa.
This market resolves around Oct 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the NZDUSD exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 30, 2026 is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the mid-price of the NZDUSD pair as reported by a widely recognized financial data provider. The market will then pay out to traders who correctly predicted the price range that encompasses the actual exchange rate at the specified time, reflecting the collective intelligence captured within this market.
Numerous factors could significantly influence the NZDUSD price and, consequently, move this market. Major economic data releases from both New Zealand and the United States, such as inflation reports, employment figures, and GDP growth, are key catalysts. Unexpected policy announcements from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand or the Federal Reserve regarding interest rates or quantitative easing could also trigger substantial price swings. Geopolitical events and shifts in global risk sentiment can also play a role, as can changes in commodity prices and overall market liquidity.
