This set of markets tracks whether the NZDUSD exchange rate will exceed various thresholds at a specific future moment. Each market examines a different price level, allowing participants to speculate on the currency pair's performance at that exact time.
All markets resolve based on the NZDUSD opening candlestick value published by Pyth at 5pm ET on October 23, 2026. For any given market, if the rate at that time is above the specified threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. Revisions to the exchange rate after the expiration time are disregarded when determining the outcome. Values are rounded to four decimal places unless otherwise stated. If Pyth does not publish data at the exact specified time, the most recently available value before that time will be used for resolution.
Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts frequently rely on economic models and historical data, this market incorporates a broader range of information, including real-time news, geopolitical events, and even subtle shifts in market sentiment. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, especially during periods of high uncertainty. The collective wisdom of traders in this market can sometimes anticipate events or react to information more quickly than standard analytical reports, offering a unique view of potential outcomes.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous auction format, where traders buy and sell contracts representing different potential NZDUSD price ranges. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that price range being the actual price at the specified time. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are constantly adjusting their bids and asks based on their own research and expectations, creating a dynamic and efficient price discovery process. The more traders believe a particular price range is likely, the higher the contract price will climb, and vice versa. This creates a forward-looking assessment of the NZDUSD exchange rate.
This market resolves around Oct 23, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the NZDUSD exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on October 23rd is verifiable from credible public reporting. The market will settle to the price reported by a widely-recognized financial data provider at that specific time. Traders will then be paid out based on whether their purchased contracts align with the actual settled price range. It's important to monitor news and economic indicators leading up to this date, as they could significantly influence the final outcome of this market.
Several key signals and events could significantly move this market before Oct 23, 2026. Major economic data releases from both New Zealand and the United States, such as inflation reports, employment figures, and GDP growth, will be closely watched. Unexpected policy announcements from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand or the Federal Reserve could also trigger substantial price movements. Geopolitical events and shifts in global risk sentiment can also influence the NZDUSD exchange rate, impacting trading activity in this market. Any news that alters expectations about the relative strength of the New Zealand and US economies could lead to significant changes in contract prices.
