On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing each possible outcome – in this case, each candidate. The price of a share directly reflects the market’s implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares of a particular candidate, the price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, and reflects their collective assessment of the election’s likely result.
This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official results announced by the relevant electoral authority for the North Island British Columbia Legislative Assembly election. The candidate who receives the most votes will be declared the winner, and that outcome will determine the settlement of this market. Traders who correctly predicted the winning candidate will receive a payout based on the odds at the time of their trade.
Several factors could significantly impact this market before the election resolves. Major events like candidate debates, significant policy announcements, or unexpected endorsements could shift voter sentiment and, consequently, trading activity. Changes in polling data, particularly if they reveal a substantial shift in support for a candidate, would also likely move the market. Finally, any unforeseen events – such as a scandal involving a candidate – could dramatically alter the perceived likelihood of different outcomes, leading to price fluctuations in this market.
