This group forecasts the next President of Kosovo. The position became vacant after Vjosa Osmani's term ended in April 2026, with the Assembly of Kosovo responsible for electing a successor. Markets focus on identifying the individual who will assume a full, non-acting presidential term.
Vjosa Osmani's presidential term concluded on April 4, 2026. Since that date the duties of President of Kosovo have been exercised on an acting basis by the President of the Assembly of Kosovo, pending the election of a new President by the Assembly. This market will resolve to the next individual who begins a full, non-acting term as President of Kosovo after April 4, 2026. To count for resolution, the individual must be elected President by the Assembly of Kosovo and take the presidential oath before the Assembly. Serving as acting, interim, or caretaker President alone will not count toward the resolution of this market, regardless of any change in who exercises those duties. If no such President takes office by April 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the Assembly of Kosovo and the Office of the President of Kosovo; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
These contracts resolve based on whether any listed individual formally assumes the role of President of Kosovo in a permanent, confirmed, elected, or otherwise non-acting and non-temporary capacity before January 1, 2027, and is the first person to do so after the contract issuance. The holder of the office at issuance is excluded from consideration. A permanent presidency is established when the individual begins their mandate by taking the oath before the Assembly; serving in any acting, interim, transitional, provisional, caretaker, pro tempore, or otherwise temporary capacity does not satisfy the payout criterion. If an unlisted person becomes the first to permanently hold the office after issuance, all listed markets resolve as 'NO.' Each contract is specific to one named individual, and resolution hinges solely on that person meeting the outlined conditions first.
Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to several factors. Differences in user base, trading fees, and market-specific rules can all contribute to price discrepancies. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Furthermore, differing levels of information access or interpretation among traders on each platform can lead to varied assessments of the likelihood of each outcome. The volume traded on each platform also plays a role; a larger volume generally indicates greater confidence in the price. These variations highlight the dynamic nature of prediction markets and the importance of considering multiple sources of information.
Several events could significantly impact this market. Major candidate announcements, shifts in political alliances, and significant endorsements could all cause price fluctuations. Unexpected economic developments or geopolitical events in the region could also influence trader sentiment. Additionally, any controversies or scandals involving the leading candidates could lead to substantial shifts in the odds. Polling data releases, while not always directly correlated, can also act as catalysts for movement in this market, as traders adjust their positions based on new information.
