This market tracks whether voter turnout in New Zealand's 2026 general election will fall between 80% and 82%. On Polymarket, the leading outcome currently stands at 73.0%. Resolution will be determined by the official voter turnout rate reported by the New Zealand Electoral Commission, calculated as total votes cast divided by total enrolled voters across both General and Māori electorates. Watch for the official results following the November 7, 2026 election date, which will serve as the definitive resolution source.
A general election is scheduled to be held in New Zealand on November 7, 2026. This market will resolve according to the official voter turnout rate for the 2026 New Zealand general election, defined as the total number of votes cast divided by the total number of enrolled voters (votes cast to electors on master roll, combined total of General and Māori electorate). If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, this market will resolve to the higher bracket. If the results of this election are not definitively known by October 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. The primary resolution source for this market will be official election results reported by the New Zealand Electoral Commission (https://elections.nz/); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used if official results are not available.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the New Zealand election turnout. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. Higher volume generally indicates greater confidence in the current price, while significant price swings can signal new information or changing sentiment. The current price effectively represents a weighted average of all traders' expectations.
This market resolves around Nov 8, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official voter turnout percentage is verifiable from credible public reporting. The official results released by the New Zealand Electoral Commission will serve as the basis for determining the winning outcome in this market. Traders who correctly predicted the final turnout percentage will be rewarded according to the payout structure defined on Polymarket. It’s important to note that the resolution will be based on the official, certified results, not preliminary estimates or projections.
Several signals or events could significantly influence this market. Major political developments, such as unexpected candidate endorsements or controversies, could shift voter sentiment and impact turnout expectations. Changes in polling data, particularly if they show a substantial shift in voter intentions, could also move the market. Furthermore, any news related to voter registration deadlines, accessibility of polling places, or potential disruptions to the election process could cause traders to reassess their predictions. Increased media coverage of the election and prominent campaigns to encourage or discourage voting could also impact the market.
