A general election is scheduled to be held in New Zealand on November 7, 2026. This market will resolve to “Yes” if either of the following groups of parties wins a combined total of more than half of the seats in the New Zealand House of Representatives as a result of this election: (a) Labour, Greens, and Te Pāti Māori; or (b) National, ACT, and New Zealand First. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. If the results of this election are not definitively known by October 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “No”. This market's resolution will be based solely on the number of seats won by the named parties in the New Zealand House of Representatives. This market will resolve based on the election results, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the New Zealand Electoral Commission (https://elections.nz/).

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the probability of any bloc winning a majority in the New Zealand election. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a contract directly reflects the perceived likelihood of that outcome. Higher demand for a 'yes' contract (a bloc winning a majority) will drive up its price, indicating increased confidence in that event. Conversely, increased selling pressure will lower the price, signaling decreased confidence. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to aggregate information and provide a real-time assessment of the election's potential results.
This market resolves around Nov 8, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the New Zealand election results are verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on whether any political bloc secures a majority of seats in the New Zealand Parliament following the election. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or settle their losing positions based on the final outcome.
Unexpected events during the campaign period could significantly impact this market. A major gaffe by a leading candidate, a shift in coalition negotiations, or the release of damaging information could all cause traders to reassess their probabilities. Economic data releases, particularly those related to employment or inflation in New Zealand, could also influence sentiment. Finally, any significant international events that impact New Zealand's political landscape could lead to price fluctuations in this market as traders adjust their expectations.
