This market will resolve to "Yes" if Russian government or aviation authorities suspend departures and arrivals at all three of the following Moscow airports at any point between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. The relevant airports are: - Sheremetyevo (SVO); - Domodedovo (DME); and - Vnukovo (VKO). A qualifying suspension refers to official flight restrictions suspending both departures and arrivals at all three airports for any amount of time. Such suspensions may be issued as one singular order or separate notices, provided suspensions of arrivals and departures are concurrently in effect at all three airports between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Suspensions described as "temporary restrictions on arrivals and departures" at the relevant airports by Russian authorities will qualify. The primary resolution source will be official communications from the Russian government and Russian aviation authorities, including the Rosaviatsiya federal air transport agency; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Prediction markets and sportsbooks operate under different regulatory frameworks and serve distinct audiences. Sportsbooks typically focus on sporting events with standardized rules and quick resolution, while prediction markets like this one price longer-duration, real-world events such as infrastructure disruptions. Prediction market odds reflect trader consensus built through continuous price discovery, whereas sportsbooks set odds to balance their book. Both can inform forecasting, but this market's odds emerge from decentralized trading rather than a single operator's risk management.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on buy and sell pressure from traders. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Shares representing each outcome trade continuously, and the current price of the leading outcome reflects the crowd's aggregate belief about the likelihood of the event. As new information emerges, traders adjust their positions, moving the price up or down. The spread between bid and ask prices indicates market liquidity and confidence in the outcome.
This market resolves around Aug 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution hinges on whether air traffic suspension occurs and the cause attributed to it. Traders should monitor official announcements from Russian aviation authorities, international news sources, and transportation agencies for clarity on any suspension and its stated reason. The market will settle based on evidence available at the deadline.
Key catalysts include official statements from Russian aviation regulators, geopolitical developments affecting Moscow's airspace, weather events, infrastructure incidents, or international sanctions targeting aviation. Media reports on airport operations, airline schedules, and air traffic control status can shift trader sentiment rapidly. Technical failures, security concerns, or diplomatic actions could trigger suspension announcements. Traders should follow Russian and international news outlets, aviation safety databases, and official government communications for early signals that could impact this market's price before the resolution deadline.
