This market will resolve to "Yes" if Russian government or aviation authorities suspend departures and arrivals at all three of the following Moscow airports at any point between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. The relevant airports are: - Sheremetyevo (SVO); - Domodedovo (DME); and - Vnukovo (VKO). A qualifying suspension refers to official flight restrictions suspending both departures and arrivals at all three airports for any amount of time. Such suspensions may be issued as one singular order or separate notices, provided suspensions of arrivals and departures are concurrently in effect at all three airports between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Suspensions described as "temporary restrictions on arrivals and departures" at the relevant airports by Russian authorities will qualify. The primary resolution source will be official communications from the Russian government and Russian aviation authorities, including the Rosaviatsiya federal air transport agency; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Prediction markets and sportsbooks operate under different regulatory frameworks and serve distinct purposes. Sportsbooks typically focus on sports outcomes and use fixed odds set by professional oddsmakers. Prediction markets like this one allow traders to dynamically price geopolitical and transportation events by buying and selling shares, creating real-time odds that reflect decentralized participant conviction. This market's odds emerge from thousands of independent traders rather than a centralized bookmaker, often capturing specialized knowledge about aviation disruptions and regional factors that traditional sportsbooks may not cover.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling binary outcome shares, with the current market price reflecting the probability consensus. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on one outcome—either the suspension occurs or it does not—and the price of each share fluctuates based on supply and demand. If you believe the probability is higher than the current market price suggests, you can buy shares; if you think it's lower, you can sell. This continuous auction mechanism ensures prices stay aligned with real-time information and trader expectations throughout the event window.
This market resolves around Aug 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution hinges on whether Moscow's air traffic has been suspended by that date and what entity or circumstance caused it. Traders should monitor official aviation authorities, news outlets, and geopolitical developments leading up to the deadline. Once the outcome is established through reliable sources, the market settles and winning positions are paid out automatically on the platform.
Several catalysts could shift odds significantly. Geopolitical tensions, military developments, or official government announcements regarding airspace restrictions would likely trigger sharp price moves. Aviation safety incidents, international sanctions, or diplomatic escalations affecting Russian airspace could also influence trader positioning. Weather events, technical infrastructure failures, or statements from Russian aviation authorities may drive volatility. Additionally, any credible reporting on planned or imminent suspensions would prompt rapid repricing. Traders typically watch news feeds, official channels, and regional security updates closely to anticipate these shifts before they're fully priced in.
