Description

This market will resolve according to the Close price for Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) on the final day of trading of the week specified in the title (normally Friday). If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. Closing prices will be used exactly as published by Pyth, without rounding. For a standard full trading session, the closing price refers to the Pyth "Close" value of the 1-minute candle corresponding to the final minute of regular trading hours on the primary exchange. If the relevant session is shortened (for example, due to a market-holiday schedule), the Pyth "Close" value of the 1-minute candle corresponding to the final minute of that shortened session will be used. If the relevant day has no valid Pyth Close value for the 1-minute candle corresponding to the end of regular trading hours on the primary exchange, the market will use the last valid Pyth price achieved during the regular trading hours of the primary exchange as the effective closing price. If no valid Pyth price exists for that trading day due to a system outage, data failure, or other technical disruption, the official closing price published by the primary exchange on which the listed security trades will be used to determine the closing price for that day. In the event of a stock split, reverse stock split, or similar corporate action affecting the listed security during the listed time frame, this market will resolve based on split-adjusted prices as displayed on Pyth. The target price will be adjusted proportionally to reflect any stock splits. Resolution will be based on the historical price data as shown on Pyth after any adjustments have been applied. The resolution source for this market will be Pyth, specifically the "Close" values for the relevant 1-minute candle for Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) available at https://pythdata.app/explore/Equity.US.MSFT%2FUSD.

Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the MSFT closing price market displays the current implied probability of Microsoft’s stock closing above or below certain price thresholds during the week of October 19th. You’ll find a price chart reflecting trader sentiment, along with the total volume traded in this market, currently at $2,524, and the 24-hour volume, which is $1,149. This allows you to quickly assess how others are predicting the stock will perform and track changes in expectations as new information emerges. The dashboard provides a real-time view of the collective forecast.

Currently, prediction market participants are expressing a strong conviction about the future price of Microsoft stock. This contrasts with traditional analyst forecasts, which often provide a range of potential outcomes. While analysts typically issue ratings like 'buy,' 'sell,' or 'hold' with price targets, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd into a single, probabilistic forecast. It’s important to note that this market reflects what traders are willing to bet on, offering a different perspective than expert opinions. The question is whether this market's view will align with actual market performance.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the MSFT closing price. The price of these contracts directly reflects the implied probability of the outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective intelligence of the crowd. The higher the price of a contract predicting a specific outcome, the more likely traders believe that outcome will occur. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market remains responsive to new information and changing sentiment.

This market resolves around Oct 23, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official closing price of Microsoft (MSFT) stock on the final day of trading during the week of October 19th. The market will determine whether the closing price falls above or below the thresholds defined within the market’s contract specifications. Traders will then be paid out based on the accuracy of their predictions, reflecting the collective forecast established before the resolution date.

Several factors could significantly influence this market before it resolves. Major company announcements from Microsoft, such as earnings reports or product launches, are likely to cause price fluctuations. Broader economic news, including interest rate decisions or macroeconomic data releases, could also impact investor sentiment towards tech stocks. Unexpected geopolitical events or shifts in market trends could also play a role. Any news that alters the perceived future prospects of Microsoft has the potential to move this market, as traders adjust their positions based on the latest information.
