Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to several factors. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform has its own user base, trading rules, and liquidity, which can influence price discovery. Different levels of participation and varying risk appetites among traders on each platform can also contribute to price discrepancies. Furthermore, the specific market structures – for example, whether it’s a binary outcome or a spread – will impact how the probabilities are expressed and traded. These differences can create arbitrage opportunities for sophisticated traders.
Several signals could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching strategies, or unexpected team performance in preceding games could shift trader sentiment. Major media coverage or public endorsements could also influence the market. Additionally, late-breaking news about weather conditions or other external factors that might affect the game's outcome could lead to price movements. Monitoring these signals will be crucial for traders looking to capitalize on shifts in probabilities.
