Frequently asked questions

Currently, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional polling data on the likelihood of María Corina Machado entering Venezuela. While polls attempt to gauge stated preferences, this market reflects what individuals are willing to *stake* on the outcome. This difference in methodology can lead to divergent views, particularly in situations with high uncertainty or strong political polarization. It's important to remember that both polls and prediction markets have limitations, and neither is a perfect predictor of future events.

On Limitless, this market is priced using a continuous double auction mechanism. Traders can place buy or sell orders at any price, and the market price adjusts based on supply and demand. Essentially, the price reflects the collective belief of all participants regarding the probability of the event occurring. On Limitless, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price indicates the cost to purchase a contract that pays out if the specified outcome regarding Machado’s entry into Venezuela comes to pass. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price will be.

This market resolves around Jan 1, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on establishing whether María Corina Machado physically enters Venezuelan territory, and the timing of that entry. The specifics of what constitutes 'entry' are defined by the market's terms, but the determination will rely on publicly available and independently verifiable information, not on any single source or subjective assessment.

Several signals or events could significantly impact this market. Any official announcements from the Venezuelan government regarding Machado's travel permissions or restrictions would be a major catalyst. Similarly, statements from Machado herself about her plans to enter the country, or any attempts to do so, would likely cause substantial price movement. Political developments within Venezuela, such as changes in government policy or shifts in public opinion, could also influence trading activity. Unexpected international interventions or diplomatic efforts related to the situation could also move this market.
