Description

Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in Latvia on October 3, 2026. Each market will resolve to "Yes" if the specified party receives at least one seat in the Latvian Saeima as a result of the 2026 Latvian parliamentary elections. Otherwise that market will resolve to "No". Seats will be counted only where they are attributed to the specified party. Seats attributed to another party or electoral designation will not count, regardless of electoral cooperation, endorsements, coalition agreements, or subsequent parliamentary-group arrangements. If the specified party formally merges into a successor party before the election and does not contest separately, seats officially attributed to that successor party will count. If the results of this election are not definitively known by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, each market will resolve to "No". Each market’s resolution will be based solely on the number of seats won by the specified party in this election. This market will resolve based on the results of this election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Latvian government, specifically the Central Election Commission (Centrālā vēlēšanu komisija, CVK) (https://www.cvk.lv/).

Frequently asked questions

Currently, this market offers a different perspective than traditional polling data for the Latvian parliamentary election. While polls aim to capture stated voter intentions, this market reflects what individuals are willing to *risk* on those outcomes, potentially revealing more about perceived probabilities. It's common to see discrepancies, as prediction markets can incorporate factors polls may miss, such as strategic voting or late-breaking developments. The current volume on Polymarket is an indicator of how actively traders are responding to available information, and how that compares to broader public opinion as reflected in polling averages for the election.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of different parties winning seats in the Latvian parliament. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the collective intelligence of traders on Polymarket, and changes dynamically as new information becomes available or sentiment shifts. The 24-hour volume of trading provides insight into the level of activity and interest in this particular market, indicating how quickly opinions are evolving.

This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official results of the Latvian parliamentary election are verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which parties ultimately secure seats in the Saeima, as determined by the Central Election Commission of Latvia. The market will then settle to 100% for the winning parties and 0% for those that do not achieve representation, based on the official seat allocation. Traders will be able to claim their winnings following the official announcement.

Several factors could significantly influence this market leading up to Oct 3, 2026. Major political events, such as unexpected candidate endorsements, significant policy announcements, or shifts in coalition discussions, could all trigger price movements. Changes in public opinion, as reflected in late-stage polling data, will also be closely watched. Furthermore, any unforeseen economic developments or geopolitical events impacting Latvia could alter voter sentiment and, consequently, the trading activity in this market. Unexpected scandals involving key political figures could also have a substantial impact on the probabilities.
