These markets track potential declines in the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield during a specific week in 2026. Each market corresponds to a different yield threshold, with resolution depending on whether the published daily yield falls below that level at any point during the period.
All markets resolve based on the Daily Treasury Par Yield Curve Rate for the 10-year tenor published by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The evaluation period runs from October 16, 2026, to October 23, 2026, inclusive of business days within that window. For any given market, if the published yield is below the specified threshold on any business day during this period, the market resolves to 'Yes.' Intraday values are excluded; only the first published daily value each business day is considered, subject to potential correction for material errors by the exchange. Each market features an expiration rule: if the threshold condition is met, the market may expire early per Rule 7.2; otherwise, it expires by 7:00 PM ET on the first business day following publication of the final period's daily value, or one week after the period ends, whichever occurs first. All markets share identical temporal and methodological frameworks, differing only in their yield thresholds.
Currently, it’s difficult to directly compare prediction market odds to traditional analyst forecasts for this market. However, a common question is whether the market anticipates a continued decline in yields, or a potential rise. Many analysts are currently debating the future path of interest rates, considering factors like inflation, economic growth, and Federal Reserve policy. This market provides a unique, real-time view of what traders believe, which may differ from the average analyst prediction, reflecting a different weighting of these influencing factors.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell contracts at prices that reflect their beliefs about the future 10-year Treasury yield. The price of a contract represents the probability of the yield falling *below* a specific level by Oct 23, 2026. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows for a constantly updated assessment of market sentiment regarding future interest rate movements. The most actively traded contracts indicate the yields traders see as most likely.
This market resolves around Oct 23, 2026, with the outcome determined by the lowest 10-year U.S. Treasury yield recorded during the period leading up to that date. The yield will be verified against credible public reporting from established financial data providers. Traders will be able to see the final yield and whether their predictions were accurate. This provides a clear and objective determination of the market’s outcome, based on publicly available financial data.
Several key signals and events could significantly move this market before Oct 23, 2026. Major economic data releases, such as inflation reports (CPI and PPI), GDP growth figures, and employment numbers, will all influence expectations about future Federal Reserve policy. Any unexpected shifts in the Fed’s stance on interest rates, or comments from key policymakers, could also trigger substantial price movements. Geopolitical events and unexpected shocks to the global economy could also play a role, driving investors towards or away from the safety of U.S. Treasury bonds.
