This set of markets tracks potential declines in the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield over a specific week in 2026. Each market corresponds to a different yield threshold, with resolution dependent on daily published yield data during the specified period.
All markets resolve based on the Daily Treasury Par Yield Curve Rate for the 10-year tenor published by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. For any business day between October 9, 2026, and October 16, 2026, if the published yield falls below the respective threshold for that market, it resolves to Yes. Intraday values are excluded, and the first published value each day governs unless a material error is identified by the Exchange. Markets may expire early if the threshold is met; otherwise, expiration occurs by 7:00 PM ET on the first business day after the period ends or one week thereafter, whichever comes first.
Currently, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than many traditional analyst forecasts regarding the future direction of the 10-year Treasury yield. While some analysts predict a continued rise in yields due to inflation and economic growth, this market suggests a possibility of yields decreasing. It’s important to remember that analyst forecasts are often based on economic models and assumptions, while this market represents the collective wisdom of individuals putting their capital at risk. This dynamic can lead to divergences in expectations, as traders react to real-time information and changing market conditions.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders can buy and sell contracts representing specific 10-year Treasury yield levels. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that yield level being the lowest by Oct 16, 2026. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the evolving consensus view. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are driven by supply and demand, with buyers pushing prices up when they believe a yield level is more likely, and sellers pushing prices down when they think it’s less likely.
This market resolves around Oct 16, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the lowest 10-year US Treasury yield achieved during the trading day on that date is verifiable from credible public reporting. The actual yield will be sourced from a widely recognized financial data provider. Traders who correctly predicted the lowest yield level will receive a payout based on the contract price at the time of resolution. This provides a transparent and objective determination of the market’s outcome, based on publicly available data.
Several key signals and events could significantly move this market before Oct 16, 2026. Unexpected shifts in inflation data, changes in Federal Reserve monetary policy, and major geopolitical events are all potential catalysts. Stronger-than-expected economic growth could push yields higher, while a recessionary outlook could drive them lower. Any surprising announcements from the Treasury Department regarding future bond auctions could also impact market sentiment. Furthermore, shifts in global investor risk appetite and demand for US debt will play a role in shaping the direction of the 10-year Treasury yield.
